Signing Companies that went down hill in their reviews

These companies used to have reasonable reviews. In the last year, their reviews took a plunge with many more negative reviews being added to their profile.

North American Signature Service
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5185
A post dated check and a package of 175 pages. The notary asked for a fee adjustment and as told, “I’ll see what I can do.”
This company had reviews that were not that bad before, but they slid into the negative zone recently.

ASAP Pro
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2984
Ratings just went downhill. One notary claimed they always paid him on time until the last two years. Another notary comments that you now have to bug them a little bit to get paid while in the old days they would just pay.

Land and Law Group
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6102
Just got a bunch of new bad reviews for late payment.

Client First
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6809
Has some new reviews for payment issues

Docpros
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5410
Got a few new bad reviews about payment issues

Nations Direct

Best Signing Co. Gossip!

(1) There were six signers!
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4481
One Notary claimed: This Avenue 365 signing was supposed to be a standard refinance. But, the signing had six signers while the confirmation only mentioned two signers. “When I asked them to adjust my fee due to the fact there were six signers (which meant more work) the answer was a resounding no! Then, I went to another signing with them and there was an error on the documents. I called to ask for the documents to be redrawn and resent the next day. When the next day arrived and when I called them, I was told that the file had not been assigned to me and the person on the other line said,” “Why are you calling?”

(2) $20 loan signings. Maybe it’s time to raise your minimum?
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6904
One Notary claims: “Some of the N3 Notary jobs were so close, that I did them for $20. But then, after there were so many cancellations, I raised my minimum to $50.”

(3) Sorry, we can’t pay you due to errors
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6899
One Notary claims Signing Stream will agree to your fee, and then doc your pay and claim that some type of errors were made.

(4) 200 page packages
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6817
One Notary claims: Pacific Document Signings tried to claim that the package was 175 pages, when they are usually close to 200 pages in the Notary’s experience. And they want to pay $70 for eDocuments? Another Notary wants to know what “local” means. $85 for local? How close are we talking about?

(5) Paid on time for 3 signings, but what about the other 6?
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5317
One Notary claims to have been paid on time for the first 3 signings by Paramount Signature Services, but the next six never got paid for!

(6) $45 Debt Settlements & $15 print fees?
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5192
One Notary was offered $45 for a Debt Settlement from Professional Settlements Services. Another was offered $15 print fee if the borrower backs out. How generous! Can I work for them too?

(7) A closeline of signings where the Notary was left out to hang!
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6278
One Notary claims that Write n Roll promised a “clothesline” of closings from a particular vendor. But, since the Notary refused to drive a 120 radius for $100, they were left “hanging” (no pun intended.) Did this Notary get taken to the cleaners?

(8) A sadistic way of collecting what’s due!
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2397
Notaries were complaining about not getting paid on time by American Signing Connection, LLC. Then, Ken recommended a very devious way to collect from companies that don’t pay on time. Locate the number that they talk to their clients (not the one they use to talk to the Notary.) Fax your invoice multiple times to that number which will tie up the line and get their attention. Another Notary claimed that she was deceived about the package size and that at the signing, many documents were missing that she was asked to back at a later date to sign for free.

(9) 25 pages to fill out + fax backs? No thanks!
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3430
One notary was told by Mortgage Connect LP there would be no fax backs. The package had 25 pages to be filled out in addition to fax backs. The Notary declined the job and informed their Attorney associated with the assignment.

10) 1 hour to find the lost docs & 2 more to finish the signing that never gets paid!
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2380
During a signing from American Freedom Assurance, Inc., the Notary waited around for over an hour while the customer located the documents and another two hours to complete the signing. He was promised payment within three weeks. The person who made that promise was reported to be, “No longer at that company.” Payment had to be “approved.” 70 days later the Notary demanded payment plus a late fee. Do you think they will get it? Nobody responded to the email.

(11) 4 last minute cancellations + errors on the signing & the redraw!
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6719
The Notary claimed there were four last minute cancellations from Pac Doc Sign. Then, there were errors on the documents. The notary corrected the errors per the request of the signing company. When the borrowers saw the botched paperwork, they refused to sign. Then, new documents were prepared and after the Notary made a 70 mile round trip to the signer a second time – The numbers were found to be all wrong. Good grief!

(12) I quoted him $160, but they said I had already agreed to $115?
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2436
Nation’s Direct certainly has developed a new way of negotiating since I worked for them! Maybe agreements should be in writing to avoid all of this he said she said nonsense.

(13) They want you to pay an $18 application fee after you hit submit?
http://www.123notary.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3170
Firma Signing Solutions paid one Notary quickly, but others are wondering about low offers and application fees.

Polite Signing Companies who are pleasant to work for

Notaries are always complaining about how badly signing companies treat them. It’s just like working at a chicken plucking factory in the 1800’s — “Get back to work or we’ll doc today’s pay!” We have lists that we publish of good signing companies, and there are many. But, we have never published a list of polite signing companies. I feel that it is high time that notaries get treated a little better, so here goes! We included quotes from appreciative notaries on the forum.

Deceptive Identities – Companies that change their names

Companies that change their names

If you read the forums much, and you are advised to, you will have some idea of what is going on in the notarial world.  Signing agents are being low balled, not paid, strung along, and worse.  Some of the players or characters in this drama either change their company name, or transfer to another company, whose identity is unknown to the notaries as a group. This is very sneaky and deceptive, but the notaries are a fast group to catch on to scams and publish information on the forum.

Moving to a new company
From time to time, notaries will post about this phenominon.  An agent from a signing or title company of a particular name, will leave one company and start working for another company.  A notary, or more than one notary will find out, and post about it on the forum.  Believe me, if Jill at XYZ company didn’t pay you, then the fact she is working for a new outfit won’t make her pay you.  Of course Jill will give you the run around and say that it was out of her control, and that it was up to payroll or accounts payable.  How can you blame Jill for what was out of her hands?  My opinion, based on spiritual knowledge and common sense is that like and like attract.  If you are a screwball, you will be likely to work for screwballs. If you are honest, how long will you stick around with crooks once you figure out who they really are?  So, if the problem is in accounting, I think you are guilty by association.  What do you think? Additionally, how can I be sure that accounts payable calls the shots of who gets paid. In companies with ten or twenty people, it could be anyone.

Changing company names
Sometimes companies will do business under one name, and then perplex everyone and pick a new name.  Nobody can figure out who they really are anymore. Notaries will tell endless stories on the forums, but there is always confusion, no matter who says what, or when.  I met someone by phone on the East coast who had a small signing outfit who wanted to change their name and enlarge their scope.  I told him to get a unique name, or keep the same name. Don’t fool around with names.  Names are how people know you and identify you.  If you pick the wrong name, you will be confused with crooks for the rest of your career and you will regret it.

Trading places?
Some companies have a similar name to other companies.  The only way to identify the company is by their town.  But, what happens when they move from Irvine to Simi Valley. Then, you completely lose track of who they are.  The confusion is unbearable.  You have to ask them if they “used to be” located in Irvine just to keep them straight.  With my luck, if I’m trying to figure out who a company is, I’ll see all of their various addresses, look them up on google, try to guess which years they were in which place, and then I will find out that they are out of business.

Similar names
How can you keep these companies straight?  I give up. It gets too confusing.

The bottom line
If a company has a confusing identity, just make sure you get their address.  The address proves who they are, unless they move around a lot.  I would be less inclined to trust a company that moved around too much.  Background check all companies on 123notary.com/S on your mobile phone and then you will know if they have a good track record.  A good history doesn’t guarantee you payment, but its ten times as safe as working for an unknown company!

Snapdocs is copying 123notary (in a few ways)

Filed under: Popular on Twitter 2011,Signing Company Gossip — Tags: — admin @ 10:15 am

I just found out that Snapdocs has ten basic questions they ask their members about loan signing. Those questions are nothing to compare with how thoroughly we test our higher level notaries. However, I was impressed at the quality of the Snapdocs questions. They were very practical and useful questions, and not very difficult either.

I heard that Snapdocs had had those questions from long time back. But, they seem to be emphasizing questions more, as I did not hear of them asking technical questions before. So, does that mean that Snapdocs is copying 123notary’s style? Does that mean they are learning from us? Is 123notary influencing how the industry does business? I am feeling that we are making an impact, although I cannot definitively say it is true.

I think if we at 123notary talk to the title companies and make a list of all the dangerous and foolish things that so many notaries do, the title companies will become a lot more hesitant to hire a Notary who does not have proven skills. We want to promote our certification, and now that we have cleaned it up, it represents a certain higher standard of knowledge.

I wonder how much Snapdocs will do to enforce or encourage a higher level of Notary knowledge. Few Notaries will try to get that distinction unless something changes in the industry and people start valuing education.

Bounced Checks, Collection Agencies, FBI reports: Learn which companies are involved!

Bounced Checks, Collection Agencies, FBI reports…

For some of you, this is old information that you have already been following. However, many notaries do not have time to read everything that goes on on the forum, and this news about signing companies will be of interest and a convenience to them!  It is hard for me to keep up with what is going on on the forums on a daily basis, but I have noticed that a lot of bad things happened in September 2011.  There were a few loan signing companies that had a reasonable reputation that suddenly stopped paying notaries.  One or more companies was reported to be out of business.  I am going to summarize the more important events of the last month or two here. I will only mention the more noteworthy signing companies here.

All Service Notary & Signings
Sept 16 – A notary gives up on trying to collect their bill and hands it over to a collection agency. Additionally, this notary reports the signing company to a credit bureau!  Another notary reports trouble getting paid from this company.  A third notary says, that after a long time, they finally received their check — but, that was in early August. The situation looks like it has deteriorated since then.

CRES Closers
One notary says that they are the BEST to work for!  Another says they met his fee and that they were great to work for. A third notary claims that they sent payment super fast!  Wow, it is nice to hear good things about a signing company these days!

Equifax Settlement Services
One notary got paid, but says the company says that they will take THREE MONTHS to pay for jobs in the future because they have to wait until the loans fund.  Another notary discusses the letter they sent to the BBB about this company. A third notary discusses the difference in what this company offers different notaries for the same work.  One gets $85, while another is offered $125!

FASS – First American Signature Services
Notaries are complaining, but not about payment issues.  One notary was taken off the list because FASS found a less expensive notary.  Back in 2010, FASS took over service for a big Title company and dropped the notary who had been servicing the signings for that Title company.  Another notary feels that they were treated rudely after some sort of argument about “quality issues”.  Although there is a lot of complaining going on here, I don’t see any wrongdoing on the part of FASS. They are just shopping around to find the best notaries for them — and trying to get high quality service as well. America is a free country and nobody is obligated to keep the same notary for life.

Final Link
Three notaries have complained that this company doesn’t do a good job of getting back to people. Not returning calls, etc.

First Preference Signing
Four notaries all claim in unison that this is the best company that they have ever worked for.

Harvard Abstract
Three notaries are claiming that this company is easy to work for and that they pay quickly.

HVR Notaries
Two notaries claim that this is a good company to work for.  One says, “They met my fee”, which is a very good sign these days with all the low balling.

Insured Closings
Notaries claim that there have been several reports of BOUNCED CHECKS from this company.  Watch out!

National Loan Closers
This company is reported to be asking for $25 to keep notaries on their list. This is causing a lot of disturbance in the notary world.  Notaries feel that companies should be paying them, and not vice versa.

Nations Direct
We have gotten many complaints about low-balling and micromanagement. One notary’s signing was interrupted by a phone call, where she was asked if she was using a blue pen.  On the other hand, it is prudent for a signing company who uses many newer notaries to call and check up on people. Obviously, many of the notaries they hired screwed up and ruined many loans which is the reason for all of the babysitting.  Please try to look at things from the signing company’s perspective. They are trying to get the job done.  Also see: Nations Direct has been around for more than a decade!

Nowclosings.com
Many notaries are claiming that this is one of the BEST signing companies they have ever worked for.

N3 Notary
A few notaries are complaining that company has badgered them too much during their signings.

Pacific Document Services
Checks that they sent out have allegedly gotten LOST in the mail. One notary has filed an official complaint with the FBI to try to get this company shut down. Another notary received a check that BOUNCED.  This is one of the most serious cases I have seen all year!  The opinions expressed here are the opinions of particular notaries and not of 123notary.com.

Safir Signing Agents
Multiple notaries are complaining about no-pay and SLOW-PAY.

Service Link
This company has lowered their fees, and we have had many complaints from notaries about LOW-BALLING from this company.

Superior Closings
The people that run this company have been functioning under four different business names over the course of time.  They are reported to be out of business now.

The Notary Biz
Many notaries are discussing whether or not this company is still in business.  One notary had a discussion with the owner who claimed that they were no longer in business.

The R&R Group
Several notaries are complaining about non-payment, and one is owed $375 by this company

Trans State Services
Many notaries are really happy with this company.  Good working conditions and timely pay!

Vital Signings
This company has a good payment record, but many notaries are complaining that there are too many steps involved in the signing process and a lot of babysitting.

National Debt Direct

Filed under: Signing Company Gossip — Tags: — admin @ 9:32 pm

Here is what Notaries are saying about this company. I rewrote some of the commentary to condense and simplify it.

(1) Abbondanza claims they used to be a good company to work for that paid within 30 days, but then got stiffed for seven jobs.

(2) esnotary was called to drive 50 miles for a last minute signing for a debt consolidation. They promised payment in 45-60 days but the notary bargained for 30 days. Later on the Notary found out that the guy who promised 30 days admitted to not having authority to get payment out that fast. People will say anything to get a Notary for a loan. So, they Notary feels lied to and will never work for Nationwide Debt Direct again!

(3) 17408 is still waiting for a payment done two and a half months before and is not happy.

(4) wponsot started with them in mid 2015 but stopped working for them because of a non-payment issue. The manager was completely unsympathetic when the Notary announced he had not been paid.

(5) 21008 claimed he/she had done three signings for them, but back in 2013 which got paid quickly. However, things seem to have changed in the meantime — at least for other Notaries.

This company’s reviews are typical of a good company gone sluggish in the payment department. I’ve seen this too many times which is why I will stress — don’t have faith in a company just because they have been reliable so far. You don’t know what stunts they will pull in the future which is why you should limit the credit you offer to companies. Once again, it is not bad to demand money up front as you are a Notary, and not a pawn shop.
