Opinions about Snapdocs in the forum & blog comments

Filed under: Signing Company Gossip — Tags: — admin @ 12:03 am

Here are some comments we got about Snapdocs in the blog and forum. I organized them in to positive and negative.

.

POSITIVE

.

1. Good information is kept in the database

Pam likes the fact that Snapdocs keeps quality information in their database about mileage, year to date payments, and a lot more. There is no doubt that Snapdocs has the most comprehensive computer database system for Notaries ever created.

.

2. This Notary sets her fees and has no trouble.

A.C. Dye has never had a problem with Snapdocs other than a quick login issue.

.

3. Some Notaries happily get good service & jobs from this platform

Craig is happy with Snapdocs. He gets 33% of his work from them and would not trade them.

Bruce claims he has had only good service from Snapdocs and that Snapdocs does not set your fee. You can just hold out for jobs that meet your fee or specifications.

Cindy loves Snapdocs and has had no trouble. She counters bad offers with her fee and I’ll guess that she often gets it.

.

NEGATIVE

.

1. You have to answer every text request or be penalized.

Debra is upset that she has to answer to all jobs otherwise she will be penalized by the algorithm. You lose points if you ignore requests and then you perhaps go down and down on the pecking order. It sounds like being handcuffed to the back of a train which is how my life has been running 123notary for the last few years.

.

2. You have to respond within seconds.

Linda claims that she responded to a text within one minute on at least 15 requests, however, never got a single job. Hmm. I never would have guessed. Glad I am writing this article. I am learning as much as you guys are.

Bob also is complaining that Snapdocs is a speed contest. You have to answer fast or you don’t get the job.

Dennis claims that the text blast demeans the profession and resembles a “feeding frenzy.”

Pam also says that you have to respond to texts within 20 seconds if you want to get hired. When they say jump, you say, “It’s more like diving for the phone, and how high?”

.

3. Low-Ball Fees

Alfred feels that Notaries who have not calculated their after-expenses hourly rate might like to work for Snapdocs, but that he does not.

Lyle on the other hand says that initial offers are low-ball, but that he holds out and usually gets his fee.

Jeanne feels that Snapdocs offers insulting fees. She tries to negotiate, but it is hard when initial job specifications are not stated in their entirety.

.

4. It’s hard or impossible for some Notaries to actually get work from them.

Sandy claims that she never got a signing from this platform. That is surprising.

.

5. Data Entry Requirements

Lee says that there is a lot of information you have to input, and it seems to be far more than he enjoys inputting or downloading.

.

6. Demeaning animal type treatment

I will refer again to Dennis’ comment above about how the Snapdocs job dispatch seems like a feeding frenzy that resembles the way animals are fed in a barn and the animals all swarm around the food troth. He is right. This is demeaning. But, high paying title companies are doing the same thing sending out emails to a dozen people for a job and seeing who answers first. I am also tired of sluggish Notaries, but requiring responses within seconds turns Notaries into the slaves of their mobile phones.

.

7. Block Call List

Ken doesn’t work for cheap, and he blocked calls from SnapDocs. I’m surprised he was on their list to begin with.

  1. If I am conducting a closing (doing a job for title) or if I am on the highway going to a closing I will miss every opportunity to accept a signing. So, I am being penalized for doing work for them. Yes, their fees are ridiculously low. We are offered a chance to drive 120 miles round trip and pay four highway tolls for a $40.00 fee. So we loose money in order to assist Snapdocs.
And for Snapdocs keeping a spreadsheet for you, do as I do and create your own. You can easily track everything that is important plus you can add notes to each signing that may be inportant in the future but Snapdos will not put onto your Snapdocs spreadsheet.
Yes, if you don’t answer a Snapdocs email in less than 20 seconds and don’t accept a ridiculously low fee there’s good chance you will be sitting at the office watching your computer screen for hours looking for another offer.

  2. I don’t like the fact that they always want Scanbacks. Is it always necessary? I doubt it.

  3. I get very little work from Snapdocs since they were breached. I haven’t been on their platform long so I’m not on the first call list. Yes they do have favorites ! Much rather deal with companies directly.

  4. They never want to pay my fee. I feel like I’m texting into space. I get enough business without them, so I don’t take them too seriously. An excellent Notary with years of experience is expected to take a demotion and decrease of salary. Does this happen in the real world?? Thank you to all of my loyal companies who believe in quality hard work and good communication.

  5. I agree with the criticism of fax/scan backs. I understand the need for that on purchase or investment property, but not for refinances, reverse or modifications. If they don’t trust the notary to do a good job they should remove them from their list. The fees are insulting, but unfortunately there seem to be notries out there who don’t consider the bottom line, they look at a low fee as though the fee is cash in hand, no consideration of the cost of ppaper, toner, wear and tear on car, insurance, etc. As an accountant, I was trained to watch the bottom line and to set aside funds to replace printer, cover insurance and other office expenses and even a car. Those who take those low fees without considering costs aren’t making money and are hurting all of us and the notary industry as a whole.

  6. I know some Notaries that accept work all over the Country. Once they accept the assignment they resell to local Notaries for the same fee that Snapdocs usually pays.

  7. Roseanne commented that they were breached. Do you know when this happened. I received no notice of this happening from them?

  8. Even Old republic & First American Title have started to use Snapdocs. This is very bad since they disclose mobile signing fees of $200 on HUD settlement statement and only pay $150 on Snapdocs.

  9. When I am directed to go to Snapdocs almost every time I go there I have to initiate a NEW password. Very very irritating. If there was a way around Snapdocs I would leave!!!! If a notary would calculate his/her actual cost of conducting a signing they would watch those that they accept. A fee of $75 will not eover the cost of supplies, travel, tolls, etc. A notary that accepts those low fees will not be here long. Also, you will find that Snapdocs hold back part of the notaries fees for themselves. That’s your money they are taking!

    Comment by RICHARD ALLAN JOHNSON — December 17, 2018 @ 6:37 pm

  10. I reset my snapdocs password 20 minutes ago. I left snapdocs and went back and had to make a new password again. This is the 10,000th time I have had to do it. Snapdocs sucks !!!!!!

  11. I think that the signing companies are cutting costs by using Snapdocs instead of hiring. Cannot prove this, but I agree that they pit all local NSA’s against each other to answer first.
I haven’t noticed as much of a dropoff of jobs from Snapdocs, more bc of higher interest rates, fewer refi’s, and signers wanting evening signings, which I won’t do in the winter. I witnessed a signing 3 miles from my house not too long ago, and drove home in pitch black and fog, so it isn’t the distance, just the danger of an accident driving late home.
My favorite vendors still text/call me with offers bc they know that I will get the signings done as promised and dropped on time. Cannot stop the great # of Snapdocs vendors, so I choose to find other ways to be successful.

  12. I think there is enough business for everyone that there shouldn’t be any concern if Snapdocs is any threat to any other signing business. I do business with them and have over many years…passed 50 transactions last year…but I do a whole lot of business with many other firms….Good luck and Happy Holidays to you all

  13. Keep your own spreadsheet for mileage and P&L. I bailed on SnapDocs long ago but for me I have a day job and only work evenings and weekends and get plenty of refi work. I might rejoin SnapDocs if they had a way to set your hours instead of blasting you all days of a week for a low paying job with little chance to get the job.
