Who and what is Snapdocs?

Filed under: Popular on Twitter,Popular Overall,Signing Company Gossip — Tags: — admin @ 9:47 am

It is not a day that goes by the I don’t get a call into 123notary.com about SnapDocs. Who are they? How do I sign up with them? How much do they pay? And, more often than not, ‘They have destroyed my notary signing agent business’.

So let me start off for folks that don’t know – they are not a signing service. This is just a platform set up where notaries can register and create an account for free, upload their credentials. ex: commission, bond, E & O, background check, certifications etc. Once your credentials have been verified by the staff at SnapDocs

(I assume this means that they are making sure your documents are current) and you have completed your profile you are all set to receive notary assignments. You set your profile to receive jobs via email and/or text. Hiring companies that have also signed up can now choose a notary from the site. It costs the signing company that utilizes this service 8.00 per assignment so I have been told. Ouch! The signing services can also rate your work and/or performance. You however, cannot rate the signing service. Personally, I don’t think this is fair. There are just to many of them that don’t pay and really take advantage of us.

Several of the signing service companies that use it have stated that they love the interface and the user experience is good – for them. However, on the other hand many notaries have expressed concern that companies that use to pay regular and a fair fee have now begun to also offer lowball offers. I assume that is because of the 8.00 fee to use the platform. The notaries also resent that there companies no longer contact them direct via telephone. The problem with this is their is not enough information that is given in the text or email. It tells you the date and time and whether it requires faxbacks but usually nothing else. IMO, this is not enough information given to make a decision whether to take a assignment or not.

Personally, I deactivated my profile. I got annoyed with all the low ball offers. It was a waste of my time. So there you have it. I would love to know how the rest of you feel.

Thanks for reading, be safe.

  1. I put all 3 – Snap, Crackel and Pop in my spam block filter.

  2. Another issue with Snapdocs is it requires that we text and drive. There is no time to pull over. Either you text while driving or lose the opportunity. I feel it is a dangerous alternative to receiving a phone call. And, I’ve been burned by several companies using the Snapdocs platform. Also, notaries are unable to see comments written about them, in addition to not being able to warn other notaries about these thieves. Another issue I have is the number of steps in their process, and the pressure to constantly be logged into the system to update various things. Once upon a time, signing and title companies understood that we were rushing to print docs and get in the car, then conduct the signing, then get back in the car… and on it goes. We are rarely sitting at our desk in front of the computer to do a plethora of data entry tasks. Apparently, some of us are expressing our concerns and complaints to our clients, because I’ve had a couple of conversations indicating they are looking for a different platform. Hopefully, our clients will “see the light” and move to a more cost effective, notary friendly platform. In the meantime, many of us are getting much of our business through Snapdocs. Thank you, 123Notary, for always being on our side! May 2017 be a safe and prosperous year for all of us!

  3. Snap is nothing more than a cattle call and will not pay a reasonable rate for a reasonable days labor. It is an outrage to my integrity and I refuse to even reply back to them. All I do is delete the cattle call message and not even read it. I have removed my name and information from Snap dragon a year ago and don’t miss it at all. There are many fine and honest companies out there that will offer you a decent wage for services rendered.
What really pisses me off is (From the documents) the notary fees are usually posted in the final paperwork at about $ 500.00 to 700.00 dollars Snap has the audacity to offer the notary $ 45.00 tp 60.00 for the closing.

  4. I have de-activated my profile a few weeks ago because of the low fees but I’m still getting their stupid texts.

  5. Many title companies who hire signing services do not know their signing service is using SnapDocs. The idea in and of itself is very smart, and I can see the allure to signing services. However, this has led to incompetent notaries accepting absurdly low fees for signings. Even though there is a $8 fee, some unscrupulous SS’s have embraced SnapDocs due to the ability to always find someone that will accept subpar payment for a signing. Then we have to hear the piteous whining about how they didn’t get paid. I’m really tired of hearing their crying because they accepted stupid fees, and won’t research who they are working for. No research, accepting lowball fees – too bad.

  6. I also question whether the SS will pay within a reasonable time or at all.

Some companies look good but once you use it they are not what you think.

  7. I have had no problems with Snapdocs….I like the ease of dealing with the companies using them…all my payments are through ACH…docs to upload or download right there on the website…and all contact information…only one password to login without having to remember all those different companies and their passwords …..I set my fees….when I am notified of the signing…sometimes I am called for the order and all information on the assignment is given to me then….when it is by email….I advise I need the address before I can accept/reject…..it works well for me and the website shows all the companies I have completed assignments for and if I was paid…..as indicated…no problems at all for me….

  8. Yet another way to get a part of the already low notary fee. Other than credit report, flood certificate, tax service, the notary fee is the lowest service provider on the list of disbursements carrying huge liability and serious demands. Why do so many plot ways to get part of the fee that is supposed to be ours? Because we let them do it. If enough put their foot down and start dictating the way we are going to do our business, things will change.
I got rid of Snap and all the other cattle callers right from the start. Too much aggravation and abject disregard for us and what we do. As for California Signing Agents, raise your fees by 25 to 50% NOW, while you have the chance or suffer and stop whining.

  9. I have used Snapdocs often and have no issues. I respond with the price I will accept and do not negotiate. Have gotten many jobs from them with zero problems but then again I set my prices and will not work for less.

  10. Ann, what city/county are you located in? In LA county, SnipFee only works for the signing services, since there’s a massive oversupply of Notaries here and they know that.

    Comment by BobH — January 17, 2017 @ 2:24 am

  11. I agree with Ann I have no problem with them but where I’m at there isn’t that many of use NSA . I don’t have to accept thier fee if I don’t agree I put in what I want and 95% of the time they come back with it and if they don’t I don’t take the job it’s my choice. I know which companies don’t pay so won’t take assignments from them. SnapDocs is good for my area.

  12. I refused to use Snapfish…..
I can comprehend how can some Notaries work for free, after all expenses.

    Comment by John Mendoza — January 17, 2017 @ 3:20 pm

  13. My biggest issue with Snapdocs is that they continue to enable and support companies that they know are not paying the notaries. The notary signing service that utilizes Snapdocs figures that they are getting a great bargain at $8 for a signing and Snapdocs doesn’t care whether the notary is getting paid or not. They just continue to collect their $8. I wish that Snapdocs was a little more selective as to whom they work with and create an environment where notaries feel safe.

    Comment by Jennifer — January 17, 2017 @ 6:38 pm

  14. Snapdocs has worked well for me. It has allowed me grow my business, volumewise, by providing the opportunity to perform services for title companies that I would otherwise not have been given that opportunity. Its ancillary features such as calendar/appointment synching, accounting and mileage tracking simplifies my workload and allows me focus primarily on my closings, etc.. As it pertains to fees, I may be wrong, however, it is my understanding that the fees are set by the various title companies and not by Snapdoct and the signing agents have the option to accept or decline a signing opportunity.

    Comment by Otto Latimer — January 18, 2017 @ 4:43 pm

  15. Otto – The Signing Agent (utilising SanpDocs) is setting the fee that is going to be paid to the individual notary. The Title Companies set the Notary Fee to be collected from the Buyers/Sellers/Borrowers & the signing agent decides what percentage of the fee they will pay to the notary to do the work, the balance of the fee they keep.

    Comment by Danelle — January 18, 2017 @ 8:04 pm

  16. To clarify my above post – To avoid confusion it should be The Signing Service is setting the fee (not individual notary/signing agent).

    Comment by Danelle — January 18, 2017 @ 8:08 pm

  17. I used them once. They said I would get paid in 3 days. That was 3 weeks ago. When I sent them an email about it, i was ignored.

  18. I love Snapdocs. I have several signing companies where they use me as a preferred notary. Meaning that those companies give extra money because they know I will do a good job. Never had a problem with payment so far and I have done over 200 signings with Snapdocs. I still get calls from signing companies as well.

    Comment by Ann Quade — March 7, 2017 @ 1:28 pm

  19. I use Snap Docs and I’ve not had any issue with them. I look at the offering, where it is and what type of signing it is as well and if it’s an hour or less away, I have a standard fee. If it’s over an hour away, a higher fee. Anything requiring scan backs, special requirements, etc, etc….I set the fee. I’ve now put myself on a higher standard and receive calls directly from signing companies. It’s a win-win so far.
As with all companies, the bottom line is the bottom line, THE dollar and with the cash holder having what they think is the upper hand, you need to be savvy. Having credentials; which should be verified-whether by staff or not-be proud of that is a good thing for business. Would you hire someone without vetting them? Most likely not!
Also, any extra skill set you possess will get the attention it deserves. Upload that in your profile and watch what happens. For me, as a Realtor and Contributing Writer for 2 magazines as well as having over 13 years experience in the mortgage industry, I made sure to add that to my profile and it paid off. I know for some that they have good reason to be upset, it’s all in the presentation of self and self preservation. Good Luck to all and never sell yourself short! Gina L.~

  20. Snapdocs currently brings me the majority of my business. I think only an idiot complains about a company doing that. How is that a problem? Do I find them low balling? Well no. What I find is that I get 10 to 3 contacts asking for my service and most of those when I get them result in payable activity. That is a fabulous conversion from lead to sale in business in my many years of experience. Again, how is that a problem? Yes, sometimes the pay offered for a given task is perhaps very low but if I consider it is only 10 to 15 pages and within 5 miles vs another service’s request to cover a multi borrower signing of 150 or more pages of eDoc printing, delivery and time to sign the lower fee assignments at least so far have been quite reasonable. I’m doing this full time so the total number of signings every week mean as much as one or two higher paying signings. On average it is better to have a high average which allows me to buffer the cash flow than the higher pay and a lower invoice value when averaged over a given week or month. I want more business not less business so any service that is delivering on my investment in any way I can utilize is a fantastic revenue stream. That is business. I want cash flow. That is the bottom line.
