Many Notaries want to have a solid presence in the industry. We recommend starting off by being on all of the big directories, manually contacting all of the good signing companies and local title companies as well. However, some Notaries want to go the extra step and have a website. Having a website can be expensive, and doesn’t always get you any play in the market. So, what should you consider?
1. Having a website makes you look more professional.
If your website or webpage is nicely laid out and has good information about your service with nice photos, you will appear very professional. You can link your webpage to your advertising with 123notary and other sites. People will get a very good impression of you. I used to have a feng-shui website that I linked to my advertising. Even though it had nothing to do with Notary work, people hired me as a result since it made me look interesting, well prepared, and knowledgeable (all of which is 100% true.)
2. Having a website is not expensive
It doesn’t cost much to have a website. However, if you want it to look really good it can cost a fortune. Something simple that looks nice is probably all you need. Just make sure you keep costs down because few people will be able to find you on the web.
3. Marketing your site
If you use metatags for local city terms combined with notary terms, that is the most effective way of getting your site seen. There are tens of thousands of Notaries in the United States. However, there are not so many in your town or neighboring towns. So, terms like Ventura Notary, Notary in Ventura, Notary Public Ventura might get you some play on Google.
You will rack up a hefty budget fast, but some people use Adwords local on Google to attract local business. You can try it, but I cannot guarantee results
5. Web Programming
Hiring web masters can cost $100 per hour and they do not value small clients like you or me. The bills will add up and it is generally not worth it for a single Notary to spend that kind of money. 123notary is a huge directory and has outrageous programming and hosting bills every year that are large enough to make a grown man cry. But, we are used to it and keep costs to a minimum even though it is still expensive.
6. Social Media
Social media is another way to get your name out there. Social media doesn’t cost anything unless you invest in photos which is recommended. However, it is a huge time zapper. Our Notary expert Ken claims that he doesn’t waste any time with social media. He just sticks to doing his job and being good at it.
