Snapdocs has an adjustable radius — should 123notary do the same?

Filed under: Signing Company Gossip — Tags: — admin @ 11:33 am

123notary is in a huge competition with Snapdocs right now. We are looking at what they do, and what seems like a good idea versus what seems counterproductive. 123notary caters to Notaries on large budgets who pay for wide coverage. Snapdocs caters to people looking for Notaries who want a Notary with the right quality / proximity ratio or algorithm. Our priorities are not the same and hence our algorithms are not either. Snapdocs wins on convenience, but 123notary wins on knowledge.

On Snapdocs, a company searching can set a radius as wide or narrow as they like. And Notaries can only have one zip code on file.

On 123notary, Notaries who have money to spend can sign up all over the nation and a handful do. Our system of showing Notaries where they don’t live is controversial. It helps Notaries promote themselves, but might be annoying to those who want to find someone close. Hmmm.

Snapdocs has 60,000 Notaries, yet only a few hundred are people I would consider hiring. But, you can always find people really close if you want.

123notary has about 7000 online Notaries of whom I would try out at least one thousand. We tend to show Notaries who are a bit farther if we consider them to be better.

So, what is the bottom line — adjustable radius, smart customized radius, or keep it the way it is? Our radius is already customized based on what area you are in by the way, but we could customize it more intricately in the future if you like.

  1. Just finished reading your blog. I’ve been on 123 notary for several years and I’m a happy client. DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING!

  2. I have only received a couple signings over the years on 123 Notary is there something I am missing. I cover 4 counties am a retired loan officer and have been completing closings for 20 years.

  3. I’ve been working with both snap docs and 123 notary for several years, I found that snap charges title companies a big “set up fee”after hearing about that I recommended 123 Notary, maybe I didn’t realize they changed radius I actually dont like the offers I get that are way to far for me to consider,
I think keep up the good work stay the same

  4. You should customize the radius.
Some of those far away notaries get the job and they resell it to notaries in the proximity areas.
No fair to the notary with a smaller budget.

  5. 123Notary is completely different than Snap Docs. Snapdocs allows companies to schedule the closing on a platform and then monitor it throughout the closing process. Snapdocs even pays the notaries directly. 123Notary is just a webiste for listing of Notaries. I don’t know how much it would cost to change the platform in 123Notary and allow companies to directly schedule through the site. Sounds like a lot of work, but I don’t know.

  6. Keep 123N the way it is! Changes always cost money and create unhappy customers.

  7. I rarely post here but this topic hits a nerve. I have been with 123notary for many many years. I am an independent Notary Public and a Title Agent and do not pay for listings or zip codes outside of my state or regional coverage area only to reassign the closing to others as most signing companies seem to be doing these days. My assignments are my own. I pride myself on a flawless completion. This is why my clients call me first. Most signing agents and signing companies snap it up on snapdocs only to reassign it in an effort to make a quick buck without even qualifying their so called vetted and trained Notaries. If I am going to pay 123notary each year to keep my position I can only hope that 123notary will not lower their standards to stay competitive.

  8. I think making it so we can customize would be best.

  9. I get the right jobs in my local areas already from 123 Notary. If changing it would improve my visibility and provide more leads for my area, I wouldn’t mind the change.

  10. I think that 123Notary could separate out zip codes and allow notarys to pay for specific zip cods rather than an entire county. Radius could work as well but does mean more work for 123 but potential for more income.

  11. Not sure about everyone else, but the “Radius” setting for my area seems to be always set on “entire state” I spend far more time responding to insanely low-ball offers on Snapdocs than I do accepting orders via their platform. Frankly, Snapdocs offers (other than those that come from First American) are rarely over $100 which I believe could be and should be every signings agent’s minimum fee. If I get a call from my 123Notary ad I book that appointment 95% of the time at a decent professional fee, meanwhile 95% of Snapdoc orders come over for signings located over an hour away and almost all of them come in at $85 (which isn’t enough to make a decent profit). I wish I had a way to communicate the concept of running a profitable business to the notaries who are obviously taking these disgraceful lowball offers and working for pennies. DO THE MATH! By the time you print, prep, drive, sign, drive, scan, drop, invoice, and then wait over a month to get paid @85$ you are making less than minimum wage after expenses. You are the only person to meet the borrower face to face, even if everyone else did their jobs perfectly up until the signing if you do your job any other way than 100% accurately the entire deal can crash, GET PAID WHAT YOU ARE WORTH!

  12. Snap DOcs is the worst thing that has happened to this business. I ignore them completely.

Snap DOc’s may be helpful to someone just getting started, but any seasoned notary who provides quality service should be ashmed if they accept assignments from them.

123 Notary is the BEST. You were a great help to me when I was getting started and you provide a great service now.

    Please don’t change!

  13. IF A COMPANY IS LOOKING FOR A SIGNING AGENT IN A PARTICULAR AREA ..123 SHOULD HAVE NOTARY SIGNING AGENTS LISTED BY ZIPCODE PROXIMITY
MILE RADIUS MAY INCLUDE OTHER STATES
I LIVE ON LONG ISLAND BUT CONNETICUT IS ONLY 15-30 MILES ACROSS THE LONG ISLAND SOUND BUT JOBS SHOW UP TO ME BECAUSE PEOPLE SEARCH BY MILEAGE INSTEAD OF PROXIMITY TO ZIPCODE IT COUD TAKE ME HOURS TO GET TO CONNETICUTT WHICH I DONT EVEN SERVE AND WOULD NEVER BOTHER RESPONDING
DUSTIN CALDWELL IS 100% CORRECT AS IS ROSE RAGAN

  14. Rose Ragam says it like it is! Good comment.

  15. With REMOTE ONLINE NOTARIZATION< I think eventually 123notary might become irrelevant , as many signing platforms have their list of RON notaries. Perhaps, instead of being bothered by SNAPDOCS, which seems to give Jeremy many sleepless nights, HE must update his business model to become RON friendly

  16. I did a signing for agent that referred me to Snapdocs over two months ago, haven’t done a signing from them yet. Most are $85, I even seen one for $30. Most of my business comes from 123 notary and accounts I’ve established. I’m listed in two counties in Maryland, one in Southern Maryland, the other Northern. I have my choice of business. This month I’ve generated 10K, best month in 6 years. Yea, I realize it probably won’t happen again, given interest rates are 0 percent. But, I’ve enjoyed this month. Thanks 123 notary.
