If you are doing a notarization by video (sounds dubious at best) and the person presents a fake ID. How difficult would it be to determine if this is fake?
My answer is that I am not a RON, but that there are about eight types of portals or software packages that accompany RON notarizations and they can be used to identify a signer or check ID. Each is different and I have no IDea if they are good at spotting fake ID. If they can connect with the DMV in the signer’s area, then that would definitely help to verify the ID.
But, maybe the RONs and RONda’s out there can help give their input for this question as you know more than I do.
PS… If you are a female RON, wouldn’t that make you a RONda?

For the platforms I work with, the signer follows instructions provided. The front and back of the ID is scanned. This will verify ID and will generate 3 to 5 security questions that must be successfully answered in a set time. Fail, and the session is canceled.

Do you get a lot of RON jobs and are they a good way to go from a time perspective? I assume there are no Scanbacks and nothing to print – do you get less per job? I noticed the RON platforms charge monthly fees so trying to figure out the model.

No Ron or Rhonda for me. I want to meet Face to Face because I will be the only one getting Sued. Anyone can answer these 5 stupid questions.

Many men carry drivers licenses where the barcode in the back has been damaged. I asked several platforms how they will solve that problem none answered.
Some platforms charge for a failing session.
I am not a fan of RON but do understand it is the future and I fully agree with Farok Ardesher the main responsibility is put on the notary and not title. None of the E&Os currently out will fully cover us.

No RON for me. I want to witness in person so that I can SEE the signer’s signature and match it to the ID, which is, IMHO, the best way to determine that they match, better than matching a face to picture. When you remove signer from NSA it adds to the difficulties we encounter at signings. I believe that you are asking for fraud. Hard to swallow, when helping to preVENT fraud is our primary job.
