We should remember that the sole purpose for a notaries work is to prove that the person whose name is being notarized is, in fact, the person present before him or her. To notarize a very complicated legal document in English is the notary required to read and understand all of the intricacies of the English document? No. Then why should a notary have to read and understand a document in a foreign language before the signature can be notarized?
