A Notary in New York recalls notarizing the signatures on a power of attorney–in an ambulance! The man was being taken to the hospital after a diabetic attack, and got the New York notary and witnesses to come along for the ride. Recalls our New York notary public, “He had delayed on getting any kind of healthcare power of attorney and also wanted to do the financial POA then and there. In New York, you have to have a separate power of attorney for both health care (not notarized) and finances (notarized)…and we did both the forms in the ambulance. The agent, his sister, was also in the ambulance…and everything went smoothly. We were afraid this man was going to pass out again… We had copies made at the hospital.”
